It’s New Year’s Eve in Brindlewood Bay, and for the elite in town that means only one thing: the annual birthday party of former mayor and town fixture Jefferson Ryan (“JR”) Lange. This year JR turns a respectable, if ominous, 100 years, and a feeding frenzy has already begun over who he plans to leave his considerable fortune to. JR has no children, or any known living relatives, so every organization in town (charitable and otherwise) has been vying for a place in JR's good graces. Did someone close the deal and then take steps to make sure JR could never change his mind?
This mystery is best as part of a campaign as it specifically asks you to pull in leading townsfolk from other mysteries and/or characters your Mavens have become familiar with (or created). JR's household staff are included here as perhaps the primary suspects, but the Choose-Your-Own-Suspect element allows for even more customization than usual.
